ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. -- Anniston Army Depot completed its first pilot Stryker overhaul program Oct. 18.

The program called for the pilot vehicle, numbered ICV-0003-01, to be disassembled and its components and hull reworked by depot personnel, with the assistance of General Dynamics Land Systems, which refurbished or replaced some components. GDLS is the original equipment manufacturer for the Stryker.

The vehicle selected for the pilot overhaul is from the 1st Stryker Brigade, 25th Infantry Division and is 10 years old.

The Stryker's engine, a 350 horsepower Caterpillar 3126 turbo diesel, was refurbished in the Powertrain Flexible Maintenance Facility.

Its transmission was also reworked and the engine and transmission were then mated into a "FUPP," or full-up power pack and dynamometer tested.

The depot also worked on approximately 27 cables and wiring harnesses for the vehichle and electronic line-replaceable-units were refurbished here and tested at Redstone Arsenal.

The depot will begin the overhaul of up to 26 Stryker ICVs in fiscal year 2012 as well as complete pilot overhauls on seven other Stryker variants.
