REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- Army Contracting Command is streamlining several headquarters functions and consolidating contracting offices in New Jersey, the ACC chief of staff announced Sept. 30.

Col. Jeffrey Gabbert said the changes resulted from an ongoing review looking for efficiencies to make ACC the most effective and efficient organization possible. He said the changes would not result in any loss of jobs or reduction of pay grades.

"Our leadership, driven by the reality of shrinking budgets, has been involved in an ongoing review of our command looking for organizational efficiencies without making us ineffective," he said.

ACC and Expeditionary Contracting Command intelligence and operations (G-2/3) sections consolidated Oct. 1. Col. Jerry Jones will be the director of the new organization and Randle "Keith" Jackson will be the deputy.

ACC, ECC and Mission and Installation Contracting Command inspector general functions also merged Oct. 1. Lt. Col. Jvon Hearn is the ACC command IG.

ACC and ECC safety offices will be consolidated Oct. 15.

Additionally, ACC and ECC Contracting Operations quality assurance divisions will be combined, with David Yelton serving as the director. ACC and ECC Human Resources (G-1) military divisions will also merge. The effective dates of these changes have not been announced.

ACC's contracting entities in New Jersey-ACC - Picatinny, ACC - Fort Dix and MICC - Fort Dix began consolidating Oct. 1 to form ACC - New Jersey. Bruce Berinato, ACC - Picatinny executive director, will lead the new organization. No moves are planned for this action.

ACC's two contracting centers at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., were consolidated in April.

"These reviews are on-going across other staff elements," Gabbert explained. "We will be providing follow-on updates as any additional organizational efficiency decisions are made and approved. The command is going to implement these changes in a transparent and deliberate fashion, ensuring we keep you in mind each step of the way."
