CAMP VIRGINIA, Kuwait, Sept. 22, 2011 -- The Four Corners site here stands ready 24 hours a day to expedite the responsible redeployment, repositioning and reposturing of equipment and troops leaving Iraq due to the presidential directive.

"Four Corners is a one-stop multi-class download site where redeploying units turn in theater-provided equipment," said 1st Lt. Jounita Meekins, Four Corners officer in charge, 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.

Once this equipment comes into country, Four Corners personnel will guide each unit through the download and turn-in process.

"The vehicles stop by each station, where Soldiers download and store their equipment by supply class," said Sgt. 1st Class Maxwell Teneyck, noncommissioned officer in charge of the Four Corners, 553rd CSSB.

Our mission is to supervise incoming convoys so they can be processed quickly and efficiently, explained Meekins.

"Essentially, I supervise all the download operations, ensuring accountability is maintained without slowing operations," Meekins explained. "The Four Corners mission is the first step in relieving units of their property so they can transition safely and efficiently."

Once each station is full, the equipment will be shipped to Camp Arifjan, where it will be processed and sent back into theater or redistributed into the supply system, said Teneyck.

The process of redistributing equipment throughout the Army to places like Afghanistan is cost-efficient and saves the military thousands of dollars a year.

Four Corners site is fully operational and ready to receive Soldiers and equipment that will pass through each lane provided by the Four Corners personnel.

Even with only 10 Soldiers on the lanes, the team is dedicated to moving convoys through quickly. Teneyck predicted more than a dozen vehicles will be processed each hour to meet the Dec. 31 deadline of repositioning troops from Iraq.

"We work two 12-hour shifts, so the site will be operational 24 hours a day," Teneyck explained.

After a long deployment and days of travel for incoming units, the Soldiers from the Four Corners site are working hard to smooth out the process, said Teneyck.

"I love being a part of this," said Teneyck. "My Soldiers understand the mission and are motivated to help these guys transition."

By operating 24 hours a day and processing more than a dozen vehicles every hour, Four Corners will expedite the repositioning process. Through operations like Four Corners, Third Army is working hard to get Soldiers and equipment repostured as quickly as possible.
