SEASIDE, Calif. - The King ("Burger" that is) will leave the proverbial "building" on General Jim Moore Boulevard when BK closes May 28.
Open since 1985, the Ord Military Community Burger King is a site long standing from the former glory days of the former Fort Ord. From the Base Realignment and Closure of the 1990s, it is one of the parcels of land being turned over to the City of Seaside.
Visitors and employees at Ord Military Community may still enjoy access to convenient dining options as the Army and Air Force Exchange Service will immediately partner with local businesses to provide mobile food operations and has long-range plans to bring another popular fast food franchise to OMC after a Main Store image upgrade is complete. The image upgrade is scheduled to begin this summer.
"We hope to have a mobile food service in what was the Burger King parking lot by the end of May," said the Exchange's General Manager Michele Weisshaar. "Around August, these operations will move to the Main Store parking lot. Regardless of where they are located, we are working to bring options that will provide a wide selection of choices from one day to the next."
