ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. - Army Sustainment Command's Family Readiness Group rewarded several of its stalwart volunteers at a Jan. 31 ceremony held in the Arsenal's historic Quarters One.

Operating under the auspices of ASC's Headquarters and Headquarters Company, the group serves Soldiers and their Families from all of the Arsenal's tenant units.

Top among the award recipients was Sherre Culbreath, who served as FRG leader from 2008 to 2010. She received a Commanding General's Certificate of Appreciation from Maj. Gen. Yves. J. Fontaine. According to Capt. Scott Leifker, HHC commander, Culbreath's volunteer service is especially notable for her willingness to take on multiple FRG duties.

"Many FRGs have up to eight group officers. During her two-year tenure, Mrs. Culbreath and two other volunteers handled the vast majority of duties," said Leifker.

Holly Green, group treasurer, also received a CG certificate. April Smith, who was not present at the event, was also cited for her service.

Newly elected FRG Leader Linda Pero has enlisted the support of several volunteers in an effort to share the load and broaden the group's appeal. In addition to Green and Smith, who have signed on for another hitch, Tracy Brooks, Rachel Lindbom, Edline Evans and Jennifer Mitchel have new roles in the group. Kathy Fontaine serves as the group's senior advisor.

The FRG's 2011 calendar is filling up, with an income tax information session, ice-skating party, bowling outing and Easter egg hunt all in prospect. A call to the HHC orderly room at (309) 782-4464 can put Family Members in touch with Erica Pagliaro, recently hired Family Readiness Support Assistant.
