AEPI assists the Army Secretariat in developing policies and strategies to improve or resolve environmental policy issues that may have significant short or long-term impacts on the Army. Since environmental issues continue to emerge as our knowledge and technology develop, AEPI constantly scans for and assesses future environmental challenges and opportunities for the Army.

The office of the DASA-ESOH develops and implements cost-effective measures to protect and sustain the environment and provide health and safety in support of military operations, installation management and material development. The office provides policy, programming and oversight of the Army's ESOH programs. Additionally, DASA-ESOH serves as the Executive Agent for several DoD programs.

National Defense Center for Energy and Environment (NDCEE)

The U.S. Army OREGAs are highly focused teams helping the Army and its installations rapidly respond to and resolve issues that might adversely affect military operations. OREGAs support the U.S. Army and Defense Department by working with military leaders, legislators, and regulators to ensure the military Services can carry out their training and operations missions while complying with all applicable regulatory requirements.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers environmental programs fall under the umbrella of the Environmental Community of Practice, which provides the public with a central access to news and information about the environment. The Corps supports or manages numerous environmental initiatives including Ecosystem Restoration, Formerly Used Defense Sites, Environmental Stewardship, support to EPA Superfund and Brownfields programs, Abandoned Mine Lands, Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program, Base Realignment and Closure 2005, and Regulatory. The Corps' environmental programs support the warfighter and military installations worldwide as well as the Corps' public recreation facilities throughout the country.

U.S. Army Engineer School Directorate of Environmental Integration

The Directorate of Environmental Integration executes the US Army Engineer School environmental proponency through the integration of environmental considerations throughout each of the functional domains of Doctrine, Organizational Design, Training, Leadership and Education, Materiel, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF). This integration effort includes the review and development of key Joint, Multi-service, and Army doctrinal products, the development and delivery of environmental training products, and through partnerships with organizations and entities internal and external to the Training and Doctrine Command in the conduct of studies and research efforts related to environmental considerations during overseas contingency operations
