Personnel from the U.S. Army Forces Command's G-3/5/7 directorates enjoyed a day of fun and team building during their organizational outing July 21 at the Clayton County International Park in Jonesboro.

Approximately 400 Soldiers, Civilian employees and Family members participated in group activities, shared stories, showed off their athletic skills, played card games and ate plenty of food as they left the day-to-day challenges and pressures of work for one afternoon.

The day began with a prayer and thanks from Maj. Gen. Mark A. Graham, commander of FORSCOM's G-3/5/7, who acknowledged the hard work of Soldiers and Civilian employees stateside and abroad.

He ended his remarks with a joking reminder to his staff to have fun - but not too much fun.

"Finally, have fun and take it slow today," Graham said, "and for those of you who are over 40, remember, you will play today, but tomorrow you will pay."

According to Maj. Kenneth Knowles, executive officer to the assistant deputy chief of staff G-3/5/7 for training and committee chairman, an organizational day is a time when the staff can take advantage of an opportunity to get away from the office and spend a fun day with Family and co-workers.

"Organizing an organizational day is a major task.

FORSCOM gets everything done through team work, and this event is no exception, as the lead committee worked diligently to provide an outstanding array of activities," Knowles said.

According to Maj. Claudette Graves, G-3 plans officer and committee member, planning for the organizational day event consisted of three months of weekly meetings and three fund raisers, including two book and bake sales, and one barbecue sale.

"We had a good time organizing this event because we had a good team of people who wanted to ensure everybody was satisfied," Alena Shealy, G-3 plans administrative assistant and committee member said.

"I am glad that I attended this year because it was well organized, especially the activities for the children, who were occupied all day," Angela Clemente, G-3 training administrative assistant said.

"All-in-all, today is a good time for us to appreciate each other outside of the work environment, and this is our last hoorah before the transition to Fort Bragg,N.C." Graves said.
