The Fairfax Board of Supervisors proclaimed "Army Strong Week in Fairfax County, June 14-20 on June 8, 2010 at the Board of Supervisor's meeting. Prior to the Board of Supervisor's meeting a reception was held in the Government Center Forum for Maj. Gen. Karl R. Horst, commander of Joint Force Headquarters and The U.S. Army Military District of Washington and Col. Jerry L. Blixt, Garrison Commander, Ft. Belvoir, the 2010 Celebrate Fairfax Lords and Ladies, and the Board of Supervisors in the Fairfax County Government Center.

Immediately following the reception at the Board of Supervisors meeting The Continental Color Guard from The 3rd U.S. Infantry regiment presented the colors during the pledge of allegiance accompanied by members of The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps.

The proclamation was read by Sharon Bulova, chairman of the Fairfax Board of Supervisors. Maj. Gen. Horst said to the Board of Supervisors, "Thank you for your continued support and acknowledgement of the contributions the Army has made to the nation and the local community. "We are proud to be your neighbors. Our families are an active part of your community. We are Army Strong because of the support we receive not only from our families but also because of our communities."

Col. Blixt and Command Sergeant Major Gabriel Berhane, Garrison Command Sergeant Major also thanked the Board of Supervisors and Fairfax County for their continued support of the Ft. Belvoir and the Soldiers that live in their community.

The Board of Supervisors surprised Col. Blixt with a proclamation thanking him for his service and contributions to the community as the Ft. Belvoir Garrison Commander.
