FORT BENNING, Ga. - It's sun, fun and mega-excitement on Memorial Day weekend, May 28-30, when the world's greatest waterskiers converge on beautiful Robin Lake for a weekend of intense competition to discover who is the best male and female water skier. With more than $100,000 in prize money, the skiers are sure to put on quite a show in what has been considered the ultimate "pressure cooker" of all tournaments.

Formerly the Masters Water Ski Tournament, in recent years this competition expanded to include the sport of wakeboarding. Spectators come early to claim their piece of the beach where they'll soak up the rays and take in all the action.

The festival-like atmosphere at the Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament includes a merchandise plaza on the beach featuring state-of-the-art water sports equipment and clothes.

The tradition of an invitation-only tournament at Callaway Gardens began in 1959 with the Ida Callaway Invitational. It is estimated the event attracted an incredible 13,000 spectators that first year. In 1960, the name was officially changed to the Masters Water Ski Tournament. Traditionally held over the Memorial Day weekend, the Masters Water Ski Tournament has been held annually, with the exception of a single year, making this the longest-running water skiing competition in the world.

With the prestige of a Masters title at stake, it is no wonder this event has remained the ultimate challenge. No other watersports competition compares to the spectacle and level of competition found at the Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament.

The Robin Lake site in the heart of the spectacular setting of Callaway Gardens is like no other; from the first view of the lake from the hillside, the magic of the Masters can be felt by athletes and spectators alike. To truly understand this incredible event, you have to experience it for yourself.

To show appreciation to the nation's armed services, the Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament and Callaway Gardens will offer free admission to service members, retirees and their immediate families during the tournament. Please bring current military identification.
