LIVORNO, Italy - The Army Community Services Family Advocacy Program and the Livorno Health Clinic joined together to help Camp Darby service members and their families prepare for "Baby is coming, what Now'" seminar as part of April's focus on the Month of the Military Child.
Army Capt. Brittney Lozier, Obstetrician Nurse from U.S. Army Garrison Vicenza Health Clinic, explained to the expecting parents what they will be going through during labor, delivery and even after the baby is born.
"It is important to get the fathers involved in this class so that they can feel more implicated and able to assist their partners," said Lozier.
"I am glad my husband attended this training with me," said Jennifer Houston, 839th Transportation Battalion. "It is good for him to have a better understanding of what is going to happen to me during labor".
Upon completion of the first part of the training with the OB nurse, ACS hosted a "Going Home with Baby," workshop addressing many new parents concerns on diaper changing, baby and parents new sleep cycles, how to soothe a crying baby, and many more topics of interest.
"This seminar really helped in acquiring a little knowledge on the resources we have on post, what services are provided, and in acquiring up front all the contact numbers we may need," said Houston.
