FORT BENNING, Ga. - Critically-acclaimed R&B artist Leigh Jones and award-winning hip hop group Animate Objects will headline a free concert from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 13 at Wetherby Field. The tour is part of the I. A.M. STRONG tour presented by the Army G-1, Sexual Harassment and Assault Prevention program. I. A.M. STRONG is the Army's campaign to combat sexual assaults by engaging all Soldiers in preventing sexual assaults before they occur.

Comedians Jesse Campbell and Drew Thomas will also lend their talents on stage.

Jones will perform songs from her debut album Music in My Soul, a collection of pop, R&B, jazz and blues songs including Cold in L.A. produced by Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, according to her Web site at http://leighjonesmusic.com. Jones has opened for stars such as Brian McKnight and John Legend.

Animate Objects, a Chicago hip-hop band, will perform songs from two albums, Riding in Fast Cars with Your Momma and Dubs, Grunts and Things. The group's RIFCWYM release led to several awards including the 2008 Independent Music Awards Best Rap and Hip Hop Song for El Dorado.

The concert is not only a chance to enjoy free music to kickoff the three-day weekend but an opportunity to see Wetherby's new outdoor stage, which was completed last month, said Donna Hyatt, marketing publicist for Fort Benning's FMWR office.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. The concert is open to the public. Blankets and lawn chairs are recommended. Food and drink vendors will be on site. Wetherby Field is located just off post along Custer Road near Highway 27/280 heading toward Sand Hill. For a map, visit www.benningmwr.com and click on the "Maps and Directions" link.
