SCHINNEN, Netherlands - U.S. Army Garrison Schinnen recently became the first education center in Europe and one of only two in the Army to offer online Graduate Management Admission Tests required for graduate school admission.
The only other Army Education Center to offer online GMATs is located at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, according to Byron Johnston, USAG Schinnen Education Services officer.
The center also now offers Excelsior College Exams online, which are used to meet specific college degree requirements. Both of these exams are funded by DANTES for active duty military members and available for a fee to other U.S. government ID card holders.
Prior to testing, military members must start the process to have any exam fees waived or reimbursed by DANTES. The education center makes these exams possible as part of its Pearson VUE testing center. It includes on-site support in English and access to testing support. Excelsior College Exams are accepted for college credit by over 900 colleges and universities. The fees vary depending on the type of test.
If you must take a test required for your U.S. military or government position, you are likely eligible for full reimbursement of the exam fee. Check with your supervisor to see if you are eligible for reimbursement.
The GMAT is a computer adaptive standardized test in mathematics and English. It measures aptitude and is used by business schools as one of many selection criteria for admission into a masters level program. The typical fee for this exam is $250, but this is reimbursable to U.S. active duty military personnel.
In addition to online GMAT exams, the education center also operates a computer lab (a.k.a. Multi-Use Learning Facility) that provides free internet and Skype access for U.S. and NATO ID card holders. The computer lab is also available for educational training or personal computer use.
