CASEY GARRISON - A fun night event planned and organized by spouses from USAG-Casey and Camp Hovey was attended and enjoyed by Soldiers, Family members and children Oct. 17 at the Casey Gateway Club. Participants came in their best dressed outfits to win a prize, and also to compete in the 'most romantic couple of the night' contest. Spouses participated in a karaoke singing contest, while children and couples danced their ways to Merengue, Cha Cha, R&B and disco music.

"Spouses are always looking for a place where they could have a good time with their husbands in a fine atmosphere of music, food and dancing, said Kathleen Walsh, Department of Army civilian spouse who took the initiative to put together the night's event activities. "We do not need to go off post to find one. The Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation clubs could offer more of this kind of entertainment and leisure to family members. We, spouses, need to network with FMWR facility managers to plan for an event they don't have on their calendars."

Pfc. Robert Payne, of F Company, 1-72 Armour Battalion, and his wife, Samantha, were judged as the 'Most Romantic Couple of the Night.'

"I just arrived 22 days ago, and here I am, taking advantage of whatever programs and services we have on Casey," Samantha Payne said.

Sgt. 1st Class John Smith of HHB, 1-38 Field Artillery, said "I have been here for two years. This is the first time I could get out with my wife, Jona, and be with other couples to enjoy a night of music and dances."

Spc. David Ezzio of Bravo Battery, 1-38 Field Artillery, and his wife, Ashley, invited a visiting family member to the party, Amber Huggins. "My parents are in Dongducheon, too, but they are babysitting for the night!"

Many spouses volunteered to decorate the Gateway Club, coordinate for the night's activities and assist the Gateway Club staff in any way they could.
