FORT EUSTIS, Va. - The 93d Signal Brigade held a change of command ceremony today on Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, welcoming Col. Glenroy Haskins as he assumed command and bidding farewell to Col. William Martin.
Col. Martin, who has commanded the 93d Signal Brigade since June 2023, passed the unit's colors to Col. Haskins. The passing of the colors is an Army tradition symbolizing the passing of responsibility from one commander to another.
Brig. Gen. Eric J. Van Den Bosch, Commanding General, 7th Signal Command (Theater), and Deputy Commanding General, Network Enterprise Technology Command, hosted the ceremony.
In his remarks, Van Den Bosch reflected on Col. Martin’s leadership of the brigade over the last 2 years.
“[Col. Martin] had the right mix of understanding our workforce and our customers, and [he was] the leader that we needed at that point in time,” said Van Den Bosch. “All of you have felt the impact of what he has done here.”
Brig. Gen. Van Den Bosch also praised Haskins as a dynamic, people-focused leader who would drive change at the brigade level. “I’m confident that [Col. Haskins] will continue the tradition of excellence in this Brigade, and importantly, put people first,” said Van Den Bosch.
In his remarks, Martin thanked the Soldiers and Civilians of the brigade for their support throughout his tenure as commander. He praised their dedication to excellence during a time of significant change for the organization.
“Like I mentioned when I assumed command 2 years ago, this is not about me,” Martin said. “It’s about the great people of this organization, those that have supported this great unit, and the many mission partners we support.”
Martin’s next assignment is as executive officer to Lt. Gen. Jeth Rey, Army Deputy Chief of Staff G-6.
The brigade’s new commander, Col. Glenroy Haskins, began his military career in 2003 when he received a commission as a Signal Corps Officer through ROTC at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
