WSMR Commander Brig. Gen. George C. Turner welcomed Acevedo to the WSMR family.
“Command Sgt. Maj. Acevedo is the best,” Turner said. “I am confident that he will carry out the gold standard of military leadership and enable us to continue moving forward as the best major range and test facility in the Department of Defense.”
“We welcome you and (your wife) Stephanie to the Land of Enchantment and the WSMR team.”
Acevedo thanked the audience for their attendance.
“It is with humility and great pride that I stand before you today to assume responsibility as the Command Sgt. Maj. of White Sands Missile Range.”
“As I take this mantle, I commit myself fully,” Hermes said. “Here at WSMR we serve the heart of innovation, testing and readiness. Our mission isn’t simply about supporting weapon testing or evaluating systems, it is about ensuring that the equipment and technologies that our warfighters rely on are lethal, survivable, and reliable. It is about delivering confidence and superiority to the battlefield.”
“As your Command Sergeant Major, my mission is clear, I will support the Commander’s intent, uphold standards and ensure that every Soldier, civilian and family member here is treated with dignity and respect and professionalism.”
Hermes also thanked his wife for her support.
Army Test and Evaluation Command Command Sgt. Maj. Bradford Smith was also in attendance at the ceremony.
