After eight and a half grueling but fun-filled days of competition, this year's Army Warrior Trials, which took place at Fort Bliss, TX from April 1st through the ninth, culminated during a closing ceremony held at Underwood Golf Complex, April 9.

Out of a pool of sixty-seven wounded, ill and injured Soldier athletes, forty will go on to represent Team Army and compete in paralympic-style adaptive sports, at the 2025 Department of Defense Warrior Games, which will take place July 18-26 at Colorado College, in Colorado Springs, CO.

The Trials' competitors battled it out in events such as archery, cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, powerlifting, track, field, rowing, wheelchair rugby, and wheelchair basketball.

Even though not all the Soldier athletes knew each other before arriving at the Trials, they quickly formed a bond with one another, and it was clearly visible that they supported each other in how much they cheered for each other throughout the competition.

"Once a Soldier, always a Soldier" is a motto these athletes live and it's something that helped them familiarize and bond with each other. That bond and sense of belonging is what propelled them all to give their best during the competition.

At the closing ceremony, each Soldier athlete was recognized for their efforts and achievements and each one of them was presented with a token of appreciation from Brig. Gen. Paul T. Krattiger, Deputy Commanding General-Operations, 1st Armored Division, and from Command Sgt. Maj. David N. Sweeney, Fort Bliss Garrison command sergeant major.
