The correction will come into force in June.

New cycling infrastructure in the center of Poznań.

New cycling infrastructure is being built in Poznań every year.

One of the newest investments in the city centre is the new bicycle connections at the intersection of Strzelecka, Królowej Jadwigi and Droga Dębińska. Construction work there was completed at the end of last year, and at the beginning of this year the investment successfully passed the final acceptance procedure.

"The new cycling infrastructure makes it easier to move around the busy intersection, and makes it easier to travel between the Rataje roundabout and the city centre. Cyclists have access to new paths on both sides of Królowej Jadwigi Street, between the bridge over the Warta River and Strzelecka and Droga Dębińska Streets, as well as on sections of Strzelecka and Kazimierza Wielkiego Streets. You can also conveniently cycle along the route created in the Tadeusz Mazowiecki Park, which was built with respect for the trees and shrubs growing there, with only minor interference in the existing greenery," says Tomasz Płóciniczak, Vice President of Poznańskie Inwestycje Miejskie.

The section along the southern side of Królowej Jadwigi Street connected the bicycle crossing through Droga Dębińska Street with the Królowej Jadwigi Bridge. On the other side of the street, a section was built connecting the bicycle crossing through Królowej Jadwigi Street with the bridge and bicycle path in the road lane of Kazimierza Wielkiego Street. Then the route leads to the eastern side of Strzelecka Street and further to Kazimierza Wielkiego Street. " Now you can comfortably ride there behind the bus stop, and then use the previously existing bicycle infrastructure leading to Mostowa Street. As a result of the works, the geometry of the inlet of Strzelecka Street towards Kazimierza Wielkiego Street has changed, " emphasize the representatives of PIM.
The constructed sections are part of the main route connecting the city center with the areas of Szczepanków in accordance with the Poznań City Bicycle Program.

The Maltanka Park Railway has been attracting residents and tourists for years. A ride on it is an extraordinary attraction: not only for the youngest, but also - due to the rolling stock collected - for narrow-gauge enthusiasts. Maltanka is one of the last narrow-gauge railways in Poland with a track width of 600 mm. On its less than 4-kilometre route, there runs, among others, the MBxc-41 series car ("snout"), the oldest functional car with a combustion engine in Poland (from 1932). Additionally, traveling on the railway, you can conveniently reach Termy Maltańskie or the New Zoo from the vicinity of the Śródka roundabout.

The 2025 season of the Maltanka Park Railway will open on Easter Monday, April 21. On the inauguration day, courses will run every 30 minutes. The first - from Maltanka station - will take place at 10 a.m., and the last from Zwierzyniec station at 6:30 p.m. In addition to the diesel locomotive, the carriages will be pulled by a "snout" (motor car no. 1 will depart on the hour from Maltanka station, and 30 minutes later from Zwierzyniec station).

This year, as in previous years, the cable car will run every hour on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays. Compared to previous years, its timetable will be slightly modified, and in September the Maltanka will only be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Until the start of the summer holidays, services from Maltanka station will run: on weekdays - at 9:30 a.m. and then every hour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., while on weekends and public holidays - every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Bolesław Chrobry from Poznań for power and crown

People who want to learn how our country functioned and looked like over a thousand years ago can visit the Archaeological Museum. The exhibition "Bolesław Chrobry from Poznań for power and the crown" has just opened there. This is the first edition of the project. There are also other attractions planned related to the anniversary of the coronation of the first king of Poland.

The exhibition at the Poznań Archaeological Museum, located in the Górka Palace at ul. Wodna 27, is a story about the state of Bolesław the Brave. It is based around selected monuments related to religion, culture, customs, economy, applicable law and the organization of the armed forces. Descriptions of individual objects are also available in Braille.

The exhibition is located in the temporary exhibition hall on the ground floor of the building. It is accompanied by an educational point operating in the courtyard. Visitors can see, touch and try on reconstructions of monuments from the reign of Bolesław the Brave (e.g. weapons or ornaments).

To visit the exhibition, you must have an admission ticket to the museum. On Saturdays, admission to all exhibitions is free.

We are moving to Ostrów Tumski

The exhibition at the Górka Palace is the first edition of the project. On the occasion of the millennium of the first Polish coronation, the Archaeological Museum and the Archaeological Reserve Genius loci have prepared two more exhibitions, as well as other events.

From 17 June (the date commemorating the death of the first king and his burial in the Poznań cathedral), it will be possible to see the next parts of the exhibition "Bolesław Chrobry from Poznań to power and the crown" on Ostrów Tumski. The exhibition in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be devoted to the Poznań stronghold as the probable place of birth of the first king and his eternal rest in the local cathedral. The prepared boards will complement the already presented relics of the palatium and the palace chapel, as well as the stone Piast throne, built into the wall of the Gothic temple. The path of Chrobry to the crown and the fate of his successors, as well as the history of the tomb of the first king of Poland, will also be presented. The exhibition will be enriched with numerous virtual links to the visualization of the island and the local buildings from 1000 years ago. Visitors will be able to download a special application, allowing them to travel in time and familiarize themselves with the monuments discovered on the island.

It was in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary that on Monday, April 14, a mass was held on the occasion of the anniversary of the birth and baptism of Bolesław the Brave, celebrated by Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Poznań.

The third part of the exhibition will be a modern exhibition encouraging people to learn about the current results of research conducted on Ostrów Tumski and studies on the beginnings of the Piast monarchy and the role of Poznań in the times of Bolesław the Brave. It will take place in the Archaeological Reserve Genius loci (at ul. Posadzego 3) - its opening is scheduled for June 16. As part of the exhibition, you will be able to see numerous presentations, a popular science film and interviews with scientists.

All exhibitions - both those in the Górka Palace and those on Ostrów Tumski - can be visited until December 31.

Lectures, workshops and museum lessons

In addition to the three-part exhibition, a series of popular science lectures awaits all interested Poznań residents. During the lectures, scientists will present the figure of the first king of Poland and his descendants, the structure of power at that time, and the role of the Gniezno Congress on the way to the crown. The meetings will take place in the reserve on Friday evenings (their schedule is available on the Genius loci website ).

Younger residents of the city can take part in museum lessons. This is a great opportunity to discover how strongly the first Polish king was connected to Poznań and what traces of his reign have been preserved to this day on Ostrów Tumski. These meetings are already taking place. More information on this topic can be found on the website Poznan.pl . In the summer, children can take part in free educational workshops entitled "Royal Holidays". They will be held in the Górka Palace and the Genius loci reserve.

On the occasion of the special anniversary, a two-volume publication "Bolesław Chrobry from Poznań for power and crown" was also created, edited by Agnieszka Stempin and Mateusz Sikora. It is also available in a digital version.

News about what will be happening in the capital of Wielkopolska as part of the celebrations of the 1000th anniversary of the coronation of the first Polish kings can be found on the portal Rok Bolesława Chrobrygo (The Year of Bolesław the Brave) , which can be accessed from the city website Poznan.pl.
