DUGWAY PROVING GROUND, Utah - Every second counts when responding to an emergency, that's why fire crews at Dugway Proving Ground constantly train for a variety of scenarios.

The Dugway Fire Department suited up in Level A protective gear to train on advanced hazmat detection techniques. These drills ensured they can safely identify and mitigate dangerous substances while operating in high-risk environments. Training in realistic environments prepares emergency responders for real-world scenarios.

Dugway has around 420 full time residents that live on post. These residents call the West Desert of Utah home but many basic amenities can only be found 50 miles away in the next closest city, Tooele. Some of these people choose to make the 90 mile drive all the way to Salt Lake City for shopping. Dugway is truly a remote and isolated test facility. This means that the first responders at Dugway could be the only emergency crews to render assistance if someone needs help, making the difference between life and death for someone in need.
