#CalibrateAI, led by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Data, Engineering and Software, under the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, has joined the Army’s broader Project Athena, an initiative to pilot commercially available, secure generative AI capabilities led by the Army CIO and the Office of Enterprise Management (OEM).
Project Athena is evaluating multiple tools and platforms with a focus on assessing the utility of different features, identifying use cases, understanding costs, developing cost containment strategies, and assessing the value of different deployment architectures. The initiative runs until April 2025, providing ample time for the Army to continue exploring the potential of generative AI and ensure its successful integration into Army business operations.
Project Athena generated an internal Army tasking to solicit AI prompts and develop curated library collections intended to help all of the AI platforms under evaluation ground answers in Army language, facts, and referenced documents, with the intention of yielding accurate and reliable AI-generated content.
Stay tuned for more information as the #CalibrateAI and other Project Athena initiatives progress for more information on the Army's efforts to roll out generative AI capabilities.
