Peter Hosutt, Acting Director, Civilian Human Resources Agency, made the announcement Sept. 3, 2024, that after an extensive selection process, Craig “Ike” Zeitler was selected as the Army Civilian Career Activity Director, Fort Belvoir, VA.

As a result of the Army People Strategy’s Civilian Implementation Plan, ACCMA was created as part of CHRA in 2020. ACCMA supports CHRA’s mission of recruiting, developing, and sustaining a professional civilian workforce through strategic workforce planning; recruitment and outreach to acquire top-tier talent; establishment and maintenance of career paths; and identification of training, broadening and education opportunities. ACCMA uses it’s 11-different career fields to focus on providing career management services across the human capital life cycle to more than 263 thousand Army Civilians.

With a distinguished background that includes extensive experience in data-driven transformations and proven leadership skills in both military and civilian roles, Zeitler succeeds Edward Emden as the second director and is poised to guide ACCMA and capitalize on what was started to drive towards further success. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the Army focuses on modernizing strategies for its civilian workforce under an updated Army People Strategy – Civilian Implementation Plan for fiscal year 2025.

In his new role, Zeitler stated, “I will work closely with key stakeholders, including workforce Functional Chiefs and command partners, to enhance readiness, foster modernization, and strengthen capabilities within the civilian workforce.”

“As ACCMA prepares to celebrate its 4th anniversary, I intend to use my experience to build on the progress made so far and drive ACCMA forward on a sustainable strategic path,” Zeitler said.

“I have full confidence that under Ike's guidance, ACCMA will continue to excel in supporting our workforce and contributing to our overall mission success,” Hosutt said. “His dedication to innovation and collaboration will undoubtedly propel us towards even greater achievements in the future.”

“His track record of establishing, executing, and improving career management processes for Army Civilians and Soldiers, as well as his expertise in talent management initiatives, positions him as an asset to the organization,” said Hosutt.

Zeitler officially assumes his new role as the ACCMA Director on September 8, 2024, relieving Craig Ritza as the interim director. Ritza will continue in his role as ACCMA’s Plans and Programs Director.
