“Honoring Our Heros,” is the focus of this sixth annual event.
National Police Week has been held annually since President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation in 1962. The week is intended to memorialize law enforcement officers who have fallen in the line of duty, as well as recognize those currently serving in communities around the country.
“Fort Eisenhower honored our law enforcement officers, Central Savannah River Area law enforcement partners, and our fallen with the Commanding General’s proclamation and wreath laying today, in the Fire Station,” said Lt. Col. Henry Cartagena, the Garrison Director of Emergency Services.
“The Fort Eisenhower Chief of Police will host a series of tournaments (pistol, bowling, fishing, golf) throughout the week for our local law enforcement and supporters,” he said. “Being a police officer is not just a job, it is a way of life. We all sleep soundly at night because a police officer is up all night.”
