FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — Every year on the Friday before Mother’s Day, we recognize Military Spouse Appreciation Day. First recognized in 1984, by President Ronald Reagan, it is an opportunity to celebrate the husbands and wives of our service members. Their strength, loyalty and unwavering commitment to their service members is the strength behind our force.

Military spouses have been the unsung heroes of our formations since before the birth of our great nation. This year, on May 10, we honor their tremendous courage, as well as their profound impact on our resiliency and well-being. Support from our spouses and families directly contributes to our readiness and overall mission success.

Caring for our military families is our responsibility and privilege. On Fort Leonard Wood, there are a variety of services available for our military spouses. The Spouse Resource Center, located in Bldg. 470, provides military spouses with community, education and employment resources, on and off the installation. The SRC hosts employment and educational events, and offers workspaces, including cubicles, computers and group meeting areas. Call 573.596.3196 for more information on the SRC. For military spouses seeking employment, ACS’s Employment Readiness Program offers resources to help with your career plan and job search. The ERP can assist in career counseling, resume building and much more. For more information on the ERP, visit the ACS website or call 573.596.0212.

ACS will be hosting a Military Spouse Day Open House. Please join us from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10 at Army Community Service in Bldg. 486, as we show our appreciation to our military spouses for their enduring love and support.
