Fort Knox, Ky. -- Whether working at the recycling center, the air traffic control tower or the front gates, Garrison Commander Col. Chris Ricci said he enjoys involving himself with the installation's workforce.
For the second time since winter, Ricci and Command Sgt. Maj. Sherm Waters, the Garrison senior noncommissioned officer, worked with the Directorate of Emergency Services as gate guards, welcoming guests and disseminating information about the installation while learning a new skill.
“It's great to be able to walk a little bit in their shoes and see how they keep the people of Fort Knox safe every day," said Ricci. "It's just good being a small piece of what helps keep the community safe."
