SATMO bolsters U.S. foreign policy with riverine training in Panama

Sgt. 1st Class Nino Cintron, Sgt. 1st Class Jose Santiago and Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Lara from the Security Assistance Training Management Organization (SATMO) concluded Riverine Operations training in Colon, Panama Feb. 13-17 with the Panamanian National Police Anti-Drug Operations Unit (UTOA). The team trained Panamanian law enforcement on navigation, watercraft maintenance, water survival, medical procedures, and communications operations. This training took place on patrol vessels in riverine and maritime environments to provide the most realistic experience. The Panama TAFT Team Leader, Maj. Sam Korom, attended the final days of the training, which included UTOA recognition of TAFT members. SATMO deploys expert teams globally in support of partners and allies, and Geographic Combatant Command strategies. The command's motto is "Training the World, One Soldier at a Time."
