FORT KNOX, Ky. – Customers can now enjoy long-anticipated  fruit-focused meals with the opening of Tropical Smoothie Café inside the Fort Knox Exchange food court.

Officials cut the ribbon Dec. 1 for the restaurant, which offers salads, sandwiches and other food items in addition to its extensive smoothie menu. Ireland Army Health Clinic f Nutrition Care Services chief  Laura Bottoms said the restaurant’s opening was thanks largely in part to the community requesting a more nutritious dining alternative.

“Bringing a business in that offers fast and convenient healthy options was integral to helping improve the health of our Soldiers and Families,” said Bottoms, “and providing more variety in what’s available to eat on post.”

The first customer of the newly opened Tropical Smoothie Café in the Fort Knox Exchange food court places her order Dec. 1, 2022, following the restaurant’s ribbon cutting ceremony.

Together with representatives from the Exchange and Tropical Smoothie, Fort Knox Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. William Fogle and Bottoms cut the ribbon and watched as the first customer placed her order.

Tropical Smoothie will be open seven days a week, operating for breakfast at 7 a.m. on weekdays.
