Participants in the 2022 Haunted Knox Walk Oct. 27 are guided through Johnson Neighborhood to the second of five stops on the tour.

FORT KNOX, Ky. – Fort Knox community members had the opportunity to experience a guided walking tour as the sun set on Oct. 27, highlighting possible haunted locations around post.

Participants gathered at the Saber & Quill starting point beginning at 5:30 p.m. for the 1.2 mile walk through the Johnson Neighborhood, around Brooks Parade Field and past Quarters 1. Actors at the five stops shared spooky stories about alleged ghostly sightings at each location.

Matthew Rector, who served as the installation’s architectural historian for close to 20 years and helped put together the podcast for the event, was on hand to answer any questions attendees had about post history.

“It’s another great opportunity for the community to look at the historic district,” said Rector. “They may not realize Buildings 1110 and 1109 were constructed as barracks for the Mechanized Cavalry, or that Cadet Command Headquarters was once the installation hospital.”
