GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — Americans Working Around the Globe hosted its annual local area seminar at the Tower Barracks Conference Center, on Nov. 16. “Let’s Build Bavaria” was an in-person workshop event, designed for military community members of U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria, to share changes to German home-based business laws and provide career guidance on personal development. Workshops included: Taking Charge of your Career, Resume & Interviewing Tips, Federal Resume Employment, Staying a Healthier You, Home-Base Business Taxation, Conflict Resolution and a Directorate of Human Resources Guest Speaker.

“This is the first time a seminar like this has been held in Grafenwoehr for several years,” said AWAG Bavaria Community Representative Donna Nguyen. “The speakers all volunteered to give their time to our local community, and were able to share their unique insights into their areas of expertise with attendees.”

AWAG is a non-profit organization that trains, strengthens and connects leaders in military communities around the globe. It provides leadership and professional development training to Americans living and working overseas — these include both personal and professional development opportunities. As a result of this year’s local seminar, participants left with a creative understanding of how to personally brand themselves, apply business marketing strategies and use best practice tips in practical situations.

The feedback from this event was overwhelmingly positive.

“Thank you for the event,” said attendee Sgt. 1st Class Davelon Cain, with 1st Battalion, 77th Field Artillery, 41st Field Artillery Brigade. “It was amazing, as all of the guest speakers came with a wealth of knowledge, and really helped me understand each topic.”

Next year’s annual training is slated for Spring 2022. Promotional materials, dates and additional information will be posted to the AWAG Bavaria website in due time: http://www.awagleadership.org/bavaria.html.
