Maj. Gen. Robert L. Edmonson II, commanding general, U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command

Team CECOM,

A friendly reminder that we are at the midway point of the fiscal year, which means we’re also halfway to the deadline for our annual mandatory trainings. These annual trainings ensure that Soldiers and Civilians remain up to date on Army priority programs, safety, and cyber security. Cyber security is especially important considering our current global climate, so I urge you to really take the time to sit down and complete these.

With the recent increase of COVID-19 Community Levels for APG’s surrounding counties, APG has moved to HPCON BRAVO. As we continue to monitor the situation, please remember to follow current DoD guidance, including providing proof of vaccination or negative test within 72 hours before entering your worksite. If you are located on a different installation or worksite that is not on APG, please follow the guidance for your area. Staying informed and practicing DoD protocols is how we will beat this pandemic. Keeping our workforce safe and always ready is CECOM’s top priority.

Recently, we celebrated Memorial Day, with some nice weather and time with our loved ones. This holiday, however, is much more than just a day off work or a great time to barbecue. It is a day of remembrance, to honor and commemorate the men and women who sacrificed their lives in service to country. A time to remember the Gold Star families left behind to carry on their legacy. I hope that when you gathered, that you did so in their honor, celebrated their memories with your loved ones, and took a moment to truly appreciate the lives that were given so that we may continue to enjoy our freedoms.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t remind you that we should always gather, honor, and celebrate safely. I understand the spring and summer weekends will be an excellent time for water sports, cookouts, and outdoor activities. Your safety is of the utmost importance. Be mindful of where you are, what you’re consuming, and who you are around. As we are seeing an uptick in COVID-19 cases in many areas, consider limiting gatherings. Give yourselves time to recharge, and don’t forget to hydrate. At CECOM, our people come first, and that means taking care of you should always be a top priority.

Thank you, team CECOM, for the tremendous work you accomplish and I look forward to seeing you all back at work healthy and safe after the long weekend.

Combat Power! Always Ready!

Sincerely,

MG Edmonson
