A Fort Knox Middle High School senior has been honored with a West Point appointment – this in addition to a four year ROTC scholarship.

Mark Cecil is still weighing what will be the best fit for him though, as he prepares to study mechanical engineering.

“I have not made my decision yet,” said Cecil, who is also considering Texas A & M University. “I have to make my decision by May 1, but it’s a great honor to have received an appointment to West Point.”

Garrison Commander Col. C.J. King joined Cecil and school faculty Thursday to celebrate the young man’s achievement.

“The fact that you’ve been extended the offer is incredible,” said King. “I hope you take it but if you don’t, I hope you’re successful in all you do.”
