Post employees, Elem Thomas and Annette Kamunya, along with Col. Mario Washington and Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Truchon, the U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden commander and command sergeant major, cut the ribbon officially opening the new post office building.

WIESBADEN, Germany – The U. S. Army Garrison command group was on site at the new post office location to officially open its doors Feb. 16.

The new post office, building 1030, has new paint, lots of windows, a new conveyor belt and more space for the employees to sort mail and for the community to pick up its mail.

The planning for the post office renovation began in September 2017, according to Erik T. Parsons, Supervisory Management and Program Analyst, Directorate Human Resources.

He said the initial goal was to insulate the building to protect the employees from extreme weather conditions. As the project evolved additional changes were considered and implemented to benefit both the community and employees.
