Detroit Arsenal Vaccine Schedule
The Detroit Arsenal began vaccinating a portion of their work force Jan. 26- 29. The first dose of COVID-19 vaccine was administered to installation healthcare providers, healthcare support, emergency services and public safety personnel.
The Arsenal is taking a phased approach to inoculating the workforce with assistance from the Michigan National Guard COVID-19 response force. The National Guard vaccine task force is supplementing our Installation Public Health Team with administering the vaccine on the Detroit Arsenal. These teams are from units across that state and comprise of one medic and two administrative supports soldiers.
The vaccination of Phase 1A is nearly complete with Phase 1B in progress. All eligible Phase 1A and 1B Detroit Arsenal employees were contacted and given appointment times for the vaccine. Phase 1A consists of healthcare providers, healthcare support, emergency services and public safety personnel. Phase 1b is made up of critical national capabilities, personnel preparing to deploy OCONUS, authorized personnel over 75 years old, and frontline essential works such as child care, teachers, postal workers, and food handlers.
Phase 1C and Phase 2 will be scheduled when more vaccine becomes available. Phase 1c will consist of authorized personnel age 65-74 years old, authorized personnel 16-64 years old with increased risk for severe illness as defined by the CDC, and personnel designated Key, Essential (EE/NCE) or Mission-Essential. Phase 2 is all healthy personnel.
The vaccine is voluntary. TACOM Senior Commander Brig. Gen. Darren Werner’s intent is to make the vaccine available to all eligible employees, their eligible family members and military partners in the community. More guidance on how to schedule vaccinations will be provided once we are informed that more vaccines are available. Officials are not sure how many vaccines will be available for installation employees.
