SAN ANTONIO -- The Alamo Federal Executive Board recognized one team and one employee from the United States Army Environmental Command for Excellence in Government during a ceremony in August.

Ramon Cintron-Ocasio, a program manager within the USAEC Compliance Branch, received honorable mention in the category Government Professional for his support to Army installations around the world.

“Ramon epitomizes the government professional in the areas of customer service, communications, initiative, and technical expertise,” said Tim Rodeffer, Compliance Branch chief. “His exceptional people skills and uncanny ability to unite a team to meet the mission is unrivaled. This, in part, is related to the fact that he is well respected and trusted by his peers for his vast technical knowledge and seen as a role model by many within the environmental community.”

The Army Compatible Use Buffer team received honorable mention in the Small Team category. The ACUB team members are Coral Eginton and Christopher Leach supervised by Matt Mattox.

“The ACUB team is in place solely to support Readiness of the U.S. Army,” said Mattox, Conservation Branch chief. “By buffering an installation from incompatible development or providing regulatory relief from natural resources constraints that may otherwise compromise training activities, the ACUB team works to ensure unimpeded mission success at an array of Army installations including critical force projection platforms.”

The Excellence in Government program serves to publicize to the general public, as well as the federal family, the high caliber of devoted employees in federal service.

The Federal Executive Boards were established in 1961 to help coordinate communication and collaboration among Federal agencies outside of Washington. The Alamo Federal Executive Board was created in 1991. Key leaders in local federal agencies serve as a board of directors to deliberate on programs and projects that affect multiple agencies.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s awards were postponed from May to August and conducted virtually.
