Operations Security, or OPSEC, is an important part of everyone's job at Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington (JFHQ-NCR/MDW). OPSEC is a multi-faceted process intended to prevent the inadvertent compromise of critical activities, capabilities or intentions.
Last month, more than 30 service members and Civilians from JFHQ-NCR/MDW attended the Defense OPSEC Managers Course at Fort Belvoir, Va. The course was presented by the Joint Information Operations Warfare Center Joint OPSEC Support Element. The three-day course included instruction on conducting OPSEC analysis, implementing a successful OPSEC program, integrating OPSEC into the contracting process, operationalizing OPSEC into the event planning process, and integrating OPSEC into crisis action and contingency planning.
Protecting critical and sensitive information is essential to the success of the mission and the lives of U.S. service members, DoD employees, contractors, and Family members.
