FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. - The Soldiers of 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) welcomed their new command sergeant major during a ceremony at Brown Parade Field here Jan. 15.

Soldiers, Department of the Army Civilians and members of the Fort Huachuca community gathered to witness Command Sgt. Maj. Bradley S. Bricker, the outgoing command sergeant major of 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, change responsibility with Command Sgt. Maj. Adin Salkanovic.

Lt. Col. James A. Horn, commander, 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), was the host of the ceremony.

"Command Sergeant Major Bricker. You have added yet another chapter to a storied War Rakkasans legacy. The Air Assault Troopers of your caliber will always be called upon to serve on the front lines of the Nation's most difficult policy decisions. You will be missed. You will not be forgotten and I wish you all the best in life to come," Horn said.

"Command Sergeant Major Salkanovic your outstanding reputation precedes you," Horn added. "In the short time that we've had together, I've been nothing but impressed and have tremendous gratitude to get to work alongside yet another great noncommissioned officer. Your leadership and experience will be invaluable to our formation over the course of our time together and the next chapter in the legacy of the War Rakkasans is in your hands."

Bricker has been serving as the command sergeant major for 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) since May 3, 2017.

"To the Soldiers, NCOs, officers, I have been truly humbled and privileged to serve as your command sergeant major," Bricker said. "You gave no less than 100 percent effort and dedication to continue to make the unit successful. I appreciate your hard work and sacrifice."

Salkanovic has deployed six times including four tours to Operation Iraqi Freedom and two tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

"I'm honored to be given the opportunity to serve in the 1-33 Cav Squadron," Salkanovic said. "Command Sergeant Major Bricker has done a tremendous job. I want to thank him and his family for everything they've done for this Squadron. War Seven signing on. Men of War. Rakkasan."

The Soldiers of 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) are based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The unit is at Fort Huachuca supporting the Southwest border mission.
