Several children of all ages braved the cold for lots of hot and cold Halloween treats Oct. 31.

Several residents of what has become a favorite door knocking neighborhood at the installation shivered on stoops or stood just inside their doors to watch for the little trick-or-treaters.

One favorite stop this year became Fire Station 1, where firefighters loaded up children with some candy and junior-sized firefighter's hats. Firefighters also encouraged the children to stay safe and warm as they disappeared into the night and toward their next stop.

Officials said the crowds seemed smaller than in previous years, probably due to the cold snap that arrived in the area just hours before the start of Halloween.
