ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. -- Brig. Gen. Michelle Letcher, commanding general of the Joint Munitions Command, toured operations at the Anniston Munitions Center Oct. 2.
During Letcher's visit, she was briefed on the status of the Multiple Launch Rocket System Recycling Center, which held its ribbon cutting ceremony in May and is expected to begin full-rate operations to demilitarize MLRS warheads in the next year.
Ross Chandler, the site supervisor for the MLRS Recycling Center, led Letcher on the facility tour and became the recipient of Letcher's first command coin given as CG.
Letcher received her first star in a ceremony at JMC Sept. 21.
The tour of ANMC's demilitarization operations continued with a visit to the demil pit, where Letcher received an overview of ANMC procedures and demilitarization capabilities. She also had the opportunity to view the controlled detonation of munitions components.
The final tour stop within the Ammunition Limited Area enabled Letcher to view the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense mission.
"It was an honor to be able to showcase the excellence of the ANMC workforce to the commanding general," said Lt. Col. Roshun Steele, commander of ANMC. "From start to finish, we are a winning team and I'm proud to highlight our capabilities and workforce."
Additional stops during Letcher's visit to Anniston included the ANMC Headquarters Building and the Museum Support Center, a tenant at Anniston Army Depot under the Army's Center of Military History.
