SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii -- The 524th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion welcomed 185 Soldiers from the 40th Composite Supply Company, 25th Sustainment Brigade in a redeployment ceremony here July 22, 2018 to culminate a 9-month combat tour in support of Operations Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve.

The Soldiers provided multiclass supply, retrograde operations, liquid logistics, and general sustainment throughout the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

"It is a momentous occasion to gather and welcome home our troops," said Lt. Col. Julio Colon, 524th CSSB provisional commander. "We are thankful that we have our Soldiers back home, that they are safe, and that they have been reunited with their family and friends."

The 25th Infantry Division commanding general, Maj. Gen. Ronald P. Clark, Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Hester, Deputy Commanding Officer - Support Col. Andrew Preston, the 25th ID Army Band, and the Schofield Barracks USO all supported the redeployment event.

During the 9-month deployment, Soldiers supervised the distribution of over 1.5 million gallons of petroleum, oils, and lubricants (POL) and managed the accountability of 5 million gallons of fuel. The company supported an Army aviation support battalion by refueling over 450 aircraft by issuing 35,000 gallons of fuel. Soldiers managed over 1.6 million items valued at approximately $181 million to include $44 million of aircraft repair parts.

The 40th CSC provided laundry support to over 6,000 personnel processing 14,000 bundles of laundry.

They also shipped 113 Army Logistics Operations Center Pallets and 44 containers supporting the Building Partnership Capacity Program. The BPC mission is designed to strengthen the relationship between the coalition and our host country by enabling the country's defense efforts with training and logistical support.

"Your sustainment operations have provided freedom of maneuver to many commanders during your deployment," Colon said during the ceremony.

"As a logistician, these accomplishments are music to my ears," he said. "I am incredibly proud of all that you have done and all that you will continue to do in service to this great Nation."

The 40th CSC has deployed over a dozen times since its initial activation in 1936.
