The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command announced the winners of the Best Warrior Competition during a ceremony at Fort Detrick, Maryland, on March 29.

Sgt. Joshua R. Meyer, of U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, received the honor of Best Warrior Noncommissioned Officer and Spc. Nirajan Nepal, also from USAMRIID, received Best Warrior Soldier.

The weeklong competition held the week of March 26-29 in Maryland provided special recognition to those USAMRMC Soldiers demonstrating outstanding military achievement; recognizing those individuals who best represent not only U.S. Army Medical Command values, but Army values as a whole.

The 2018 USAMRMC Best Warrior competition included a board appearance, written essay, written exam, Army Physical Fitness Test, urban orienteering, night land navigation, an unknown distance run, a ruck march and Army Warrior Tasks.

Meyer and Nepal will now go on to represent the USAMRMC at the Army Medicine-level competition to be held June 22-27 at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.
