FORT SILL, Okla. (March 1, 2018) -- Working as a protocol coordinator requires a Department of Army civilian here to work closely with people.

But, off duty, she and her husband touch a lot of lives through teaching and ministering at couples' events, marriage seminars, conferences and retreats. She has used her experiences to author two books.

Dr. Jeanette Davis has a long history with Fort Sill and Lawton, having started working in civil service in 1985 at the commissary as a cash clerk, then at the Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic, and finally as a protocol coordinator from 2010 to the present. She met her husband Phillip through friends in Lawton.

Davis has a passion for ministry that she said stems from her Christian faith and love and relationship with God. She is also a minister and has a passion for putting her thoughts down on paper.

" I always have been a writer, not like writing books, but taking notes, anything people say or what they're doing, I've always taken notes," she said. " I've been told I take copious notes in detail, and so I've always written. And so one day it's just something that's within you. It was spoken over me before. I've heard over the years that I should be writing a book, so you can't say spoken. It wasn't until I saw that I should be writing books that I wrote books.

"Actually I went through an author's course that started in October 2016 and I graduated in 2017," Davis said. "It was a year-long writing course (with) Eagles International Training Institute. They had many courses you could take from business to entrepreneurship. I took the authorship course. It was out of Dallas. It was a training institute. When I graduated, there were over 200 graduates with all the different (disciplines offered) everybody in different courses."

Her second book, "Passion to Prevail in Marriage" provides her another opportunity to reach people in a deeper and more personal way than what a chance conversation offers.

"It's very amazing that we have so many Christian marriage books, but it's amazing to see mine sitting on the shelf with the others. There's been a lot I have given away."

Davis, who has a degree in biblical studies and theology said she wants her books to be a tool in helping others to believe in themselves, succeed and have victory in areas of their lives. For more information on Davis and her writing, see www.passiontoprevail.com.

She spoke about her protocol position at Fort Sill.

"There's a pattern to everything, if you can follow the system, follow the pattern, it works every time," Davis said. "Our common duties are distinguished visitors, ceremonies, luncheons and covering events that are sponsored by the commanding general.
