FORT GORDON, Ga.--(April 23, 2009) The Signal Center and LandWarNet eUniversity were selected by an Army Training Support Center panel to receive the TRADOC distributed Learning Champion Award for 2008.
Joe Capps, Fort Gordon deputy commander, presented the award during a ceremony in Conrad Hall April 22 and congratulated the LandWarNet eUniversity team on winning the Distributive Learning Champion Award.
This award recognizes the TRADOC School or agency that has championed distributed learning, challenged existing practices, and exemplified pioneer attributes by developing new and innovative approaches to improve the delivery of distributed learning programs that deliver distributive learning products to the Soldier in the field and in the school house.
This award is earned by demonstrating distinct leadership in the field of distributed learning during the previous fiscal year. The SIGCEN/LWNeU was selected as the best among all 33 TRADOC schools and centers.
Bennita Freeman, Distributed Education Branch chief accepted the award on behalf of the Signal Center.
More specifically the award citation cited the following 2008 accomplishments:
Aca,!AcProvided training online to over 5,500 Soldiers each month that were stationed in-theater via open enrollment courses and unit universities.
Aca,!AcDirectly supported over 40 units in the area of responsibility.
Aca,!AcDirectly supported 177 units world-wide via Lifelong Learning Center Unit universities. The number of Unit Universities established more than tripled in 2008.
Aca,!AcDelivered training to units through all phases of Army Force Generation.
Aca,!AcTrained units using over 600 training products downloadable via the LWN eU.
"Winning this award is truly a team effort among the military, Army civilians and contractors and between all the training departments on the post," said Patrick Baker, Digital Training Division chief. "It's nice to be recognized for all the hard work and effort that goes into providing world-class distributive training to all Soldiers, regardless of where they are."
