REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. (Jan. 10, 2018) -- Shortly after college, Thomas Hibbett began his career at the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center in June 2010. Hibbett currently works in systems engineering as a matrixed radar engineer for the Lower Tier Project Office. He serves as the lead systems engineer for the new program, Lower Tier Air Missile Defense System. His primary responsibilities include developing and implementing radar requirements for the LTAMDS sensor.
"We are in the early stages of this program so we are still developing requirements with the help of the Army and private contractors," said Hibbett. "These requirements will help combat future threats and targets as well as increase protection for Soldiers in the field. This supports one of the Army top priorities, building the future force."
Hibbett said he enjoys the group he works with and believes it is a team effort that makes the program successful.
"The people I work with are great," Hibbett said. "I love being in the project office because it seems like I'm doing something different everyday so it stays interesting. Also, being able to implement requirements and help systems get fielded is really neat. My job almost has a 'hands on' feeling, so being close to a project and helping it progress really inspires me to come to work each day."
Hibbett holds a Bachelor's degree in wireless electrical engineering from Auburn University and a Master's degree in robotic controls electrical engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He is a recent graduate of the Intermediate Leader Investment for Tomorrow program and is a Level III Certified Acquisition Professional for Engineering.
In his spare time, Hibbett enjoys spending time with his wife, Caitlin and their three dogs. He also has a passion for wood working.
"I like building things," said Hibbett. "I enjoy traveling, Auburn sports, being around friends and family, and serving as a member of Church of the Highlands."
