U.S. ARMY GARRISON - YONGSAN, KOREA -- Mrs. Jean Case, the chairman of the board of trustees of the National Geographic Society (NGS) visited the Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital (BAACH), July 19, 2017. The key leaders in BAACH including Col. Erica Clarkson, the hospital Commander, welcomed this influential female social leader.
Case is the first female chairman of the board of trustees of the NGS in its 128-year history and also known as the CEO of the Case Foundation -- a social impact organization that invests in individuals, non-profits, and social enterprises. In addition to her role as Chairman and CEO, Case also serves on the boards of Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure (ABC2).
Along with the passion to build a social impact to provide support and solution for brain cancer, her strong interest in Army Medicine and supporting our soldiers abroad brought her to the Land of Morning Calm where she had a chance to meet another female leader, who has a resembled passion with Case for our society and country.
Clarkson is also the first female hospital Commander that BAACH ever had in its over 60 years history in Korea. Her passion and leadership have brought many accomplishments to the organization from achieving the first 'Army Safety and Health Management System (ASHMS) Stars' in Regional Health Command -- Pacific to leading its Behavioral Health Service Line to rank number one in MEDCOM.
Clarkson and the Command team provided Case a tour of the hospital as well as the Command overview show-casing the U.S. Army Medical Department's commitment to providing the state of the art health care to all its beneficiaries serving the country far away from home.
"To have such a remarkable individual visit our organization is both inspiring and honoring" said Clarkson "and there is no gender when it comes to serving our country and to make it a better place. It is my hope that everyone understands that what we do here to serve our soldiers and families in Korea does matter back home."
BAACH is the one and only Military Treatment Facility (MTF) that serves its dual mission as Combat Support Hospital (CSH) and Army Community Hospital. 121st CSH/BAACH provides the beneficiaries access to patient centered compassionate, high quality healthcare at each of the facilities throughout the Peninsula, while remaining trained and ready to execute the wartime mission of the 121 CSH. BAACH is fully accredited by the Joint Commission receiving its most recent accreditation in May 2016.
