Col. Oscar Pintado became the 11th commander of the U.S. Army's only brigade dedicated to marketing July 21. Col. Janet Holliday relinquished command to Pintado during a change of command ceremony July 21.
Pintado, who hails from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, accepted the colors for the Army Marketing and Engagement Brigade from Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Marketing Mark Davis in a ceremony at USAMEB headquarters. Fort Knox leaders joined brigade Soldiers, civilians and Families to watch the ceremony.
Davis thanked Holliday for her service during the past two years.
"This brigade is a better place due to her time at the helm," Davis said. "Janet Holliday has been a great leader who worked tirelessly to make the brigade and its three battalions better."
The assignment as USAMEB commander marks a return to Fort Knox for Pintado who was previously stationed here before the Armor School moved to Fort Benning, Georgia.
"We are truly excited to be back here at Fort Knox," Pintado said. "However we are more excited and humbled by the opportunity to be part of the greater Fort Knox team, the community and this great unit.
"And speaking of this
great unit, they are scattered throughout the United States, 'Connecting America's People with America's Army,' perhaps making the only positive impression that many Americans will have with their Army."
Pintado comes to Fort Knox by way of Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from the Army Senior Service College.
He takes over the post from Holliday, who assumed command of the brigade in July 2015.
Addressing Holliday at the ceremony, Pintado thanked the outgoing commander for her accomplishments.
"This brigade is truly better because of you," Pintado said to Holliday.
Holliday moves on to become the chief of staff for Fort Knox's U.S. Army Cadet Command. The outgoing commander thanked Davis, the AMRG staff, the Soldiers, civilians and Families of the brigade for their support during her tenure.
"This really has been the best job I have ever had," Holliday said.
USAMEB creates positive Army brand equity by engaging with the American public, demonstrating elite Army skills and capabilities and providing unique support to the operating force. The brigade includes the Mission Support Battalion, collocated with USAMEB at Fort Knox, the Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning, Georgia, and the Army Parachute Team (Golden Knights) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
