The Army's only active duty brigade dedicated to marketing and engagement will unfurl its new colors during a reflagging ceremony June 14 at Fort Knox's Munoz building.
The brigade was officially designated U.S. Army Marketing and Engagement Brigade earlier this year by order of the secretary of the Army. Formerly known as the Accessions Support Brigade, the new title better reflects the unit's unique mission and capabilities.
The brigade's mission of connecting America with America's Army will not change.
"Our mission is jumping, shooting, driving, competing, winning, exhibiting, marketing, supporting recruiting and connecting America's People with America's Army," said brigade commander, Col. Janet Holliday.
The USAMEB is the higher headquarters for some of the Army's most historic and innovative units, the U.S. Army Parachute Team, U.S. Army Marksmanship Team and U.S. Army Mission Support Battalion. With these unique capabilities, the U.S. Army Marketing and Engagement Brigade creates positive Army brand equity by engaging with the American public by demonstrating elite Army skills and capabilities, and providing unique support to the Operational and Generating Force.
The brigade began as a small fleet of Army trucks and Soldiers tasked by the secretary of the Army to stage Army displays at the World Fair in New York in 1936.
The brigade has since evolved to include the Army's premiere aerial demonstration team, the Golden Knights (U.S. Army Parachute Team) and the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. Today's brigade leverages social media and traditional marketing to maximize the message of what it means to be a Soldier.
The U.S. Army Marketing and Engagement Brigade is aligned under the Army Marketing and Research Group.
