School-aged children are invited to enter the Team Redstone Protection Day 2017 poster contest.

This year's contest will be open to children in kindergarten through 12th grades. The goal of the contest is to educate the Team Redstone workforce and their family members on situational awareness of safety, antiterrorism, iWatch, Ready Army and America's PrepareAthon.

When/Where is Team Redstone Protection Day? It will be conducted April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MWR Activity Field on Redstone Arsenal.

Who can enter the Team Redstone Protection Day poster contest? The contest is open to kindergarten through eighth grade students with access to Redstone Arsenal. There is a limit of one entry per student and no fee to enter. The students are asked to create a poster designed to raise awareness of the following topics/themes determined by grade as follows:

Grades K-2 -- Poster on Safety

Theme: A Safe Army is a Ready Army

DEADLINE: Posters must be delivered to U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command Public Affairs Office prior to noon April 6.

JUDGING: Judging will be conducted by a group of Protection Day volunteers. The top five winners in each category will be judged by AMCOM/Redstone Arsenal Garrison senior leadership to determine first through fifth place. Prizes will be awarded.

DISPLAY: All posters will be displayed along the fence line at Team Redstone Protection Day. They will then be available for pick up from the AMCOM Public Affairs Office.

Team Redstone Protection Day Poster Contest Rules:

• All posters must contain the words: Protection Day 2017.

• Posters will display the theme assigned to the corresponding grade.

• Topics and themes may be researched by the student to assist in developing poster idea.

• Posters will measure no larger than 24 inches high and 30 inches wide.

• Students may use watercolor, pen and ink, colored pencils, crayons, chalk, markers, paint and other materials readily available in their poster design.

• Posters must be original in design and capture the spirit of the theme.

• Posters must be the exclusive work of the student entering the contest in idea, design and execution.

• No staples. No tacks.

• No student names on the front of the posters.

• Student names, their parent's name, their affiliated Team Redstone organization and their contact information should be written in the lower right hand corner of the back of the poster.

• Posters should include words and drawings.

• Posters with stencils, traced, computer-generated or commercially manufactured stick-on lettering or images will not be accepted and will disqualify the poster.

• No computer aided or copy machine poster entries.
