GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- Throughout the month of November, U.S. Army Medical Department Activity Bavaria (BMEDDAC) clinics in Ansbach, Grafenwoehr, Hohenfels, Stuttgart and Vilseck are sponsoring events and activities to increase public awareness of the Warrior Care and Transition Program (WCTP), and the resilience and tenacity of Soldiers who have succeeded in using the program to speed recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration back to duty through the transition process.
"Warrior Care Month serves as an important reminder of the enduring resilience and perseverance of our service members, qualities I see in wounded, ill and injured service members who are striving each day to recover successfully." said James Rodriguez, deputy assistant secretary of defense, office of warrior care policy in regards the 2016 November observance.
The theme of this year's Warrior Care Month is "Show of Strength."
The U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) is the lead proponent for the Warrior Care and Transition Program (WCTP), which evaluates and treats wounded, ill and injured service members through a comprehensive process of medical care, rehabilitation and professional development. The WCTP's top priority is the welfare of Soldiers and their families through commitment to the best care and treatment of wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers and commitment to education, training and careers. The WCTP works closely with the Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2) which also assists severely wounded, ill and injured Soldiers, veterans and their families throughout the recovery and transition process.
In Europe, the Regional Health Command, Europe (RHC-E) assists qualifying Soldiers into the WCTP and helps facilitate placement into stateside Warrior Transition Units (WTUs) who provide six months of rehabilitative care, cannot perform their duties (i.e. non-deployable) and/or need complex medical management. Likewise if a Soldier has challenging behavioral health needs.

Qualifying criteria for enrollment in the program include Soldiers with a temporary profile that would cause duty limitations for six months or longer, multiple medical conditions requiring acute case management, an individual's complexity of a single wound, illness or injury and health care of such in support of healing or rehabilitation or a psychological condition posing substantial danger to self or others. No medical conditions have to be combat related.
