U.S. Army Europe's Public Outreach Programs are a Huge Success

WIESBADEN, GERMANY -- Headquarters U.S. Army Europe hosted five Public Outreach Programs or "POP" events during October at Lucius D. Clay Kaserne.

The Public Outreach Program aimed at transparency and increasing public awareness for U.S. Army Europe and its support for the NATO alliance and overall European security.

The visiting groups included the Bundeswehr Offiziersvereinigung Frankfurt, the Rotary Club Main-Taunus, the Lions Club Wiesbaden-Neroberg, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the German-Israeli Association. These groups took part in an orientation of U.S. Army Europe Headquarters and tours of Clay Kaserne, its airfield, the John M. Shalikashvili Mission Command Center, and the Combined Operations and Intelligence Center.

Presentations included the "Strong Europe" briefing given by U.S. Army Europe's German Brig. Gen. Markus Laubenthal, chief of staff, and Bill Williams, deputy chief of staff. Discussions were focused on concerns and topics of mutual interest related to European security. The visiting groups expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to see the headquarters and engage with Laubenthal.
