FORT BENNING, Ga., (Oct. 19, 2016) -- With literally thousands of charities eligible for CFC donations the hardest part of the process is deciding which charities to support. The actual pledging part isn't difficult at all. There are three methods to donate, with two of them being on-line. Pledging on-line reduces the required amount of paper and required man-hours required to process pledges. It also reduces the off chance of human error in data entry. In each method the donor defines which charities they wish to support.

First step is to determine which charities to support. There is a 5 digit Charity Code next to the charity name in the CFC Charity List. This 5 digit code is unique to each charity and identifies the charity you would like to support. There are thousands of charities that make up 26 service categories. These categories range from Education, Health Care, Medical Research, Human Services, Animal Related, Religion Related, Youth Development, and Mental Health and Crisis Intervention just to name a few. If there is something you care about there is a charity that works in that area.

The two on-line methods are myPay and CFC NEXUS. MyPay the preferred on-line method when contributing through payroll deduction as no additional steps are necessary. Pledge through myPay and everything is set, quick and easy. CFC NEXUS is the only on-line method of contributing a one-time donation and requires additional steps. The CFC NEXUS confirmation screen needs to be printed out and turned into the Unit CFC Coordinator. Charity codes can be search on-line with either method.

These methods work great for units with members that have access to computers and have time to log in.

For units with members that don't have computer access the tried and true method of distributing, filling out, collecting and turning in the paper pledge forms is their option. One-time contributions and payroll deductions can be accomplished through the paper pledge forms. The Unit CFC Coordinators will be handling the paper pledge forms and one-time cash contributions.

This year's CFC open period is from 01Sep2016 - 15Dec2016.

The generosity of our installation has a positive impact on those in local communities, across the nation and around the world. If you would like to make a contribution see your Unit CFC Coordinator.
