The U.S. Army's Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP) has started installation of the Home Station Mission Command Center (HSMCC) for the U.S. Army's 4th Infantry Division (ID), based at Fort Carson, Co.

Driven by an operational necessity, the installation at Fort Carson is part of the Army's HSMCC Initiative to accelerate a standardized command post design for Force 2025. "The technology refresh delivered through HSMCC allows our Army to conduct joint combined-arms maneuvers from their home-station, empowering Soldiers and leaders through better command, control, communications and collaborations," said Terry Watson, acting Program Executive Officer Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), which has oversight of I3MP.

The new HSMCC will provide 4th ID with a fully equipped and functional set of command posts, enabling 4ID to perform warfighting functions while at home station. When finished, HSMCC will provide leaders with continuous situational awareness and uninterrupted mission command through all operational phases.

Before the HSMCC installation, I3MP delivered network modernizations to Army installations in the continental United States, affording Soldiers a faster and more reliable internet experience. Building upon these network modernizations, the HSMCC Initiative refreshes the technology at Corps and Division Command Centers, delivering the latest technology needed by Commanders. "Today's uncertain and dynamic security environment demands the information infrastructure modernizations delivered by the HSMCC Initiative," said Lt. Col. August "Gus" Muller, I3MP Product Director.

Over the next few years, I3MP's main mission will be delivering HSMCC to more than 20 Army installations across the continental United States. To complete this critical mission on-time and on-budget, I3MP has partnered with sister units from the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command: U.S. Army's Information Systems Engineering Command (USAISEC) and Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD).

While I3MP provides program management of the installation, Tobyhanna and USAISEC are providing the critical link between the Army Enterprise Network Vision and our Army's ability to build an agile, expeditionary force prepared to meet the challenges of the global environment.

"The strong working relationship between all Army elements and our industry partners is a testament to the dedication of all our talented professionals, who make the HSMCC Initiative a reality," said Lt. Col. Muller.

USAISEC provides HSMCC project support to PEO EIS to improve Army mission commands, while TYAD provides total sustainment support to the upgraded Command Centers. Together, these sister units provide a dedicated team of trusted professionals, who drive the Army's Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) readiness worldwide.
