BETTENDORF, Iowa -- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt students from Rock Island Arsenal, toured the ALCOA Center of Excellence and manufacturing facility at Davenport Works in Bettendorf, Iowa, June 15.

Lean Six Sigma relies on collaborative work to improve performance and processes. The U.S. Army Sustainment Command offers this course to employees on the arsenal.

The course instructors were Thomas Ferguson, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and George Gray, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt candidate.

Lyle Andersen of ALCOA led the tour which began with a briefing about the company's three core functions and their system of applying "Lean" to improve their processes. The ASC Green Belt Class was then given a tour of the mile-long facility.
